Funkstown Bridge No. 2 crosses Antietam Creek at Funkstown and was built in 1833 by George Weaver for $1,800. Shafer’s Mill stood at this site, where flour was ground. The bridge’s most notable feature is the graduated size of its three arches, which grow larger from east to west as the bridge rises from low ground to high ground on the western bank. Its spans are 20, 31, and 35 feet, and the bridge is 109 feet long.
