White Hall Plantation House Ruins and Oak Avenue, near Ridgeland, South Carolina, preserves the remains of a plantation house and its surrounding landscape as an archaeological site rather than a restored residence. Built between 1771 and 1776 and enlarged between 1786 and 1791, the complex retains the ruins of a brick house with tabby wings, twin flanking tabby outbuildings, and a tabby retaining wall. Its massive double avenue of oaks, planted in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century, still shapes the approach. After the house burned about 1870 and was never repaired or reoccupied, the property endured as rare surviving ruins with notable architectural and landscape features.
