Allegany County's original court house was erected in 1819 with bricks made on the square in front. By act of the legislature in 1858, the Angelica court house was to be disposed of and the county seat moved to Belmont. In 1860 the county was divided into two jury districts, and after remodeling was completed in 1861, court was held alternately in Angelica and Belmont until 1892. In 1895 the building was sold to the Town of Angelica.
