South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks has received support from the Spearfish Canyon Foundation, established by Homestake Mining Company, to continue stewardship of the canyon landscape. The Foundation has played a major role in many projects over the years and donated funds to assist in the purchase of Spearfish Falls, Roughlock Falls, and the Savoy areas. Through the dedication and tenacity of its Board of Directors—Susan Johnson, Myles Kennedy, Dr. Bob Roberts, Karl Burke, and Jerry Krambeck—these areas will be well managed and protected for future generations.
