Mount Ida is a 12,874-foot summit in Colorado’s northern Front Range, within the Rocky Mountain National Park Wilderness. It rises on the Continental Divide between Grand and Larimer counties, west of Estes Park, and was probably named after Mount Ida on Crete. The mountain’s high, exposed position gives it an alpine subarctic climate, with cold, snowy winters and cool to warm summers. Precipitation falls year-round at this elevation, coming as winter snow and often as summer thunderstorms, with a relatively drier period in late spring.
