A committee appointed by the legislature met in old Margaret on April 4, 1891, to organize Foard County, divided the county into four precincts, and held an election on April 27. The officials elected were Judge J.C. Roberts, Attorney G.T. Brown, Clerk G.W. Thompson, Sheriff S.J. Moore, Tax Assessor J.A. Wright, Treasurer J.W. Magee, Surveyor Harry Sappington, Animal and Hide Inspector T.H. Benson, and Commissioners John Wesley, John B. Stegar, J.W. Moore, and W.T. McDaniel.
