Edgartown honored local men and women who served their country during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1975 in the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Maritime Service, and identified Richard P. Hewitt and R. Patrick Mello as killed in action. It also honored those who served during American actions in Iran in 1980, Lebanon in 1982, Grenada in 1983, Panama in 1989, the Persian Gulf in 1990, Somalia in 1992, Haiti in 1994, Bosnia in 1995, and Kosovo in 1999, with service listed in the Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Maritime Service. Additional names were included for service connected with Korea, Vietnam, and other actions.
