In 1939, Covert Park at Mount Bonnell was given to the people of Travis County by the Covert family in memory of Frank M. Covert, Sr. The park was transferred to the City of Austin in 1972, designated a Historic Landmark in 1990, designated a Nature Preserve in 1996, and in 2014 was rededicated by the Covert family for the enjoyment of the people of Austin and visitors from around the world.
