The Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry in Austin preserves and presents the history of Texas military service from 1823 to the present. Developed from an effort launched in 1986 by Major General James T. Dennis and Brigadier General John C. L. Scribner, it was authorized for Camp Mabry in 1987, opened in 1992, and was later dedicated in Scribner’s name. Its galleries trace Texas military history from the militia and Texas Revolution through the world wars, Cold War, and recent missions. With extensive artifacts, vehicles, archives, and public programs, it serves as both a museum and research center.
