Under the auspices of Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, buildings at Calico were to be rebuilt on their original sites. Walter Knott dedicated Calico Ghost Town to the memory of the heroic silver miners who lived and toiled there, and the preservation of this singular California heritage was dedicated to visitors as a constant source of learning and enjoyment. Calico was founded circa 1881, restored by Walter Knott in 1950, and historically marked and dedicated by the Native Sons of the Golden West on Nov. 25, 1961.
