Hard at Work
History
Workers carved stone blocks and hand-hewed timbers for most projects, creating distinctive and sturdy buildings such as the North Shore Bath House and the headquarters building, along with two toilet/shower buildings and a stone shelter in the Northern Lights Campground. All buildings are labeled with a CCC logo. CCC crews did most of their work by hand, hauling rock and supplies up steep bluffs, cutting firewood without the aid of chainsaws, and working year round in bitter cold and searing heat.
