Originally constructed in the 1870's for pioneer orchardist and vintner George Briggs, the mansion underwent extensive reconstruction in the 1920's at the hand of Henry Stelling, another accomplished orchardist. Under Mrs. Stelling's care, the gardens surrounding the 2-1/2 story mission style mansion became a showcase.
