On Oct. 16, 1849, Addison Pratt passed over beautiful rich bottoms covered with green grass, uncommon at that season on that route, then crossed a high divide into a beautiful round valley at Cove Fort, where he shot the largest hare he had ever seen in that valley after traveling 23 miles that day.
