TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens reuses Eero Saarinen’s former TWA Flight Center, completed in 1962, as the centerpiece of an airport hotel opened in 2019 with two new seven-story wings. After the terminal ceased operating in 2001, preservation and redevelopment efforts led to its conversion by MCR Hotels, combining restoration with new construction. Landmark features, including ceramic tiles, hundreds of window panels, and the split-flap departure board, were restored or recreated to retain its 1960s character. The hotel includes 512 rooms, aviation-themed public spaces, a conference center, and a restored Lockheed Starliner cocktail lounge, and has earned preservation and hospitality recognition.
