The Coila United Presbyterian Church was formerly the Associate Presbyterian Congregation of Cambridge. It was organized on August 13, 1785. The first building on this site was erected in 1786, and the present building was erected in 1833. Its first pastor was Rev. Thomas Beveridge. During the first one hundred and fifty years of the congregation's history, there were only six pastors. The site was deeded by Jonathan French to the first trustees in 1786.
