Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve is a 366-acre public recreation area in the Santa Cruz Mountains of northern California, managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. Its wooded hillsides, open slopes, and viewpoints over San Francisco Bay also protect the source of Cordilleras Creek. About 6 miles of trails cross terrain with roughly 500 feet of elevation change, supporting walking and hiking while bikes and horses are excluded. Much of the land was once the Hassler Health Farm, a tuberculosis sanitarium owned by the City of San Francisco. After its purchase in 1983 and demolition of the buildings in 1985, the area was restored, though remnants of the earlier complex remain.
