Military
5
Felix Grundy Stidger, a Union spy born Aug. 5, 1836, foiled a plot by the Knights of the Golden Circle to firebomb northern cities, free Confederate prisoners, and turn the tide of the Civil War. His testimony resulted in the convictions of many “Copperheads.” A hunted man, he left Louisville for Chicago, where he is buried.
