Three Penguins is a prominent Entrada Sandstone rock formation just inside Arches National Park in eastern Utah, rising 4,488 feet above sea level and standing sharply above Moab Canyon as a striking first landmark for visitors on the main road. About 140 feet tall, with its summit rising roughly 350 feet above the canyon in a short distance, it drains runoff toward the Colorado River. Officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names, it is also a noted climbing objective. The first ascent came in November 1976 by Larry Bruce, Molly Higgins, and Michael Kennedy, and later routes helped establish it as one of the park’s notable climbs.
