South Dakota's State Capitol is located in Pierre, a city along the banks of the Missouri River near the Oahe Dam. The building was completed in 1910 and restored in 1989. The grounds feature Capitol Lake surrounded by memorials to veterans, policemen, firemen, and EMTS.
