General Edward Braddock's army made its sixteenth encampment at Salt Lick Camp on July 3, 1755, after marching six miles from Jacobs Cabin Camp. The circuitous route by way of Mount Pleasant was taken to get around a great swamp. Braddock's next camp, Thicketty Run Camp, lay six miles beyond.
