Ringos Mill Covered Bridge spans Fox Creek in Fleming County, Kentucky, in a single 90-foot covered road span named for a grist mill that once stood nearby downstream. Built with yellow pine timbers on red stone abutments later faced in concrete, and sided with double walls of yellow poplar, it uses clerestory openings to admit light and air. The structure is a strong example of Theodore Burr’s 1814 patented multiple-kingpost truss, a design important in early American bridge engineering. It was probably built by the same contractor as the Hillsboro Covered Bridge, reflecting a small local tradition of covered-bridge construction.
