Merrick Butte is a sandstone butte in Monument Valley, within Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in the United States. Standing near the West and East Mitten Buttes, it is part of the valley’s famous cluster of isolated rock formations that rise sharply from the desert floor. The butte was named for Jack Merrick, a silver miner killed in 1880. Its setting ties it to one of the most recognizable landscapes in the American Southwest, and it remains an important feature of the Navajo park.
