Raleigh Barcar, a newspaper publisher and the second owner of the Vacaville Reporter, built two structures here. The lower floor of the two-story brick building housed businesses and at one time served as Vacaville's fire station, while the upper story contained offices and club rooms. The adjacent building to the west was built for The Reporter, which was founded in 1883, and the newspaper continued to publish there until it was moved in 1993 by the John Rico Publishing Co.
