In 1906, Robert L. Adams opened his butter creamery here, but it was soon destroyed by fire. E. Stern, a stone mason who lived across the street, built the stone front portion for the new creamery. Adams traveled the surrounding area with his team of horses to pick up farmers' milk, then separated the cream for butter manufacturing. Later he sold his cream separator to a farmer who then brought cream directly to the plant. He produced high-quality soft butter that won a blue ribbon at the State Fair for three consecutive years. The plant closed in 1922, later became a meat casing plant, had additional space added, and is now the property of the Wolf Construction Company.
