In A.D. 1906, the citizens of Weatherly and vicinity erected a memorial in memory of its noble defenders, and it invoked Lincoln's words at Gettysburg that these dead should not have died in vain, that the nation under God should have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people should not perish from the earth.
