The people of Slope County erected a war memorial in memory of their dead from World War I and World War II, naming John G. Kienenberger, Jean H. Pearl, Harley B. Gallup, Claude B. Bartow, Edwin P. Hagen, Andy O. Berg, Roy E. Byers, John O. Fenne, Dovie W. Carter, George F. Ross, Jacob B. Fisher, Clarence W. Jacobson, Alexander Herrstromer, Edward F. Buzalsky, Leander W. Ege, Edwin A. Germann, Ernest M. Holzemer, Kenneth C. Howie, Willie Moe, George Schaff, Raymond Duff, and Ole E. Norsby, with Alexander Herrstromer and Ole E. Norsby identified as killed in action, and also naming Thomas Narum of the Vietnam Conflict.
