Sherman Library and Gardens in Corona del Mar, California, is a public botanical garden that blends landscaped grounds with conservatories and patios. The present garden began in 1955, when Arnold D. Haskell purchased the former Norman’s Nursery property and named the library and gardens for his mentor and benefactor, M. H. Sherman. Its plantings span a wide range of environments, from desert species to tropical vegetation. Notable features include a Succulent Garden around a California pepper tree, a tropical conservatory filled with orchids, heliconias, and gingers, a Fern Grotto with mature staghorn ferns, and an Herb Garden with distinctive aromatic varieties.
