Established in 1904, Bayou Boeuf Elementary's Little Red School House housed grades 1-7 and in 1983 was recognized by the State Dept. of Education as the oldest one-room school house in continuous use in LA. It was moved from its original location near the Kraemer Post Office to its current location in 1951 and is currently used as a kindergarten classroom. During its centennial celebration on March 27, 2004, the building was named in honor of Denise C. Borne, principal from 1945-73.
