Elder Joseph Parker established Little Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church between 1727 and 1748 after coming into the area, where he lived, taught school, and preached at Little Creek. Its first building, called A. Jones' Meeting House, was a log structure about 20 feet by 30 feet. Little Creek Church has been acknowledged as the oldest church in the denomination. Records show that the General Conference of Free Will Baptist met at Little Creek on November 5, 1812. In 1765, the Kehukee Association absorbed all but six Free Will Baptist churches, and Little Creek was one of the six not absorbed. Records also show that a deed was given in 1765 to Little Creek Church near Little Contentnea Creek, and in 1791 Shadrack Mercer deeded another site to the church, when Joseph Parker was pastor. The present church, built about 1880, stands on a site purchased in 1964 on ground held by the Bill Edwards family. An older building that had a balcony for slaves to worship was given to Black worshipers and moved near Little Contentnea Creek; that building burned in 1943. Little Creek remains active in the Original Free Will Baptist denomination and in service to God and community, and its longest-serving pastor was Rev. Frank Flowers, whose tenure lasted 26 years and 9 months from 1979 to 2006.
