In 1947, Red Byron easily won the January race, Bob Flock won the March and August races, and Raymond Parks owned the cars that had won many pre-war Daytona races and all five Beach-Road races in 1946-1947. Auto Racing was founded on Dec. 14, 1947, when Bill France convened a meeting at the local Streamline Hotel to strengthen the sport.
