Windsor Mills Covered Bridge in Windsor Township, about five miles west of Orwell, is one of Ashtabula County’s 17 drivable covered bridges. Built in 1867 as a 120-foot single-span Town truss of white pine, it carries Covered Bridge Lane over Phelps Creek. Its cut stone abutments, made from locally quarried sandstone on one side and creek stone on the other, reflect its rural setting. The bridge was bypassed when the road was rerouted in the 1960s and later closed for safety, but rehabilitation from 2002 to 2004 returned it to service. It is now open to traffic except trucks and buses and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
