The building at 124 First Street housed the Citizens State Bank from 1893 to 1943, after which its assets were purchased and incorporated into the Pleasant Hill Bank. From 1943 to 1958 it operated as a shoe and dress shop, and in 1958 it became a liquor store for several years. Later it served as a small convenience store and then an antique shop. The dates on the building, 1884 and 1913, are believed to mark the founding of the bank, which had relocated there, and the remodeling in 1913.
