Construction on the Pawnee Bill mansion began in early 1910. Designed by the Lillies with architect James Hamilton of Chester, Pennsylvania, the Arts and Crafts style bungalow was their dream home. Completed in December 1910, the approximately 5300 square foot house had six bedrooms, two bathrooms, two offices, an indoor kitchen, a dining room, and additional living spaces. It was fully electrified, had running water, and used a coal-powered boiler for heat. Built at a cost of $100,000, the mansion reflected key Arts and Crafts features such as large overhanging eaves, thick rock columns and arches around wraparound porches, multiple central fireplaces, exposed decorative beams, low-pitched roofs, and natural materials including tropical hardwoods inside and sandstone quarried on the ranch grounds outside.
