Angels Rest Cluster
Nature
Angels Rest Cluster is a protected natural area in Virginia's Jefferson National Forest, recognized as a Mountain Treasure for its scenic views, varied habitats, and large unbroken Appalachian forest. South of Pearisburg, it includes Angels Rest on Pearis Mountain, Mill Creek and Dismal Creek wildlands, Dismal Creek Falls, and a section of the Appalachian Trail connecting shelters and campground sites. Its landscape reflects Ridge and Valley geology shaped by folding, faulting, uplift, and erosion, including an S-shaped mountain pattern. The area spans two watersheds and provides important habitat for species such as black bear, some birds, and the woodland box turtle.
