Carl R. Fretz, who lived from 1930 to 2015, embodied dedicated service to Oxford through the contribution of time, vision, and resources in support of the needs, aspirations, and dreams of its people. The memorial also honors all those who, like him, have given their best in serving the community. Its three stones are original Oxford curbstones from the time President Lincoln's body was carried through Oxford on April 21, 1865.
