From 1861 to 1865, men from Pulaski County served the Union in the Civil War, primarily in Company B of the 87th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment and Company H of the 46th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment. These soldiers gave their lives in the preservation of the Union and fought in major battles including Perryville, Chicamauga, Atlanta, Vicksburg, and New Orleans, and they also took part in Sherman’s March to the Sea.
