Jacob Geiger’s steam-operated mill stood on Schuylkill Avenue, the street that angles off just below the World War II monument north of State Street, along the canal and towpath approach. The mill was later operated as Wentzel and Metz and was torn down in the late 1980s. In the distance, the Pennsylvania Railroad bridge could be seen and still remains.
