After leaving its overnight bivouac three miles west, Wheeler's Cavalry Brigade, having passed completely around Rosecrans' army, crossed the highway here about 3:30 A.M. and rejoined Bragg's Army of Tennessee in time to actively screen its left flank during the Battle of Murfreesboro.
