History
2
Friendship Cemetery opened in the 1830s with the burials of local Yankee town settlers, was closed in 1859 by a private owner, and was reopened in 1861 by Madison Walsh and Nolan Stewart. It was enlarged and improved in 1892, when the adjacent Methodist Church was built. The cemetery has been used in three eras: the Republic of Texas, the Confederacy, and the Union.
