The Morrow County Veterans Memorial Plaza is dedicated to the heroic valor and patriotic spirit of the men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. It is also dedicated to the glory of Almighty God, in memory of veterans who have fallen in life and in honor of new veterans coming into life, whose unselfish patriotism has advanced the American ideals of liberty and the universal brotherhood of man. Dedicated on Nov. 11, 2007, it also honors those who served and those who gave their lives, declaring that all gave some and some gave all. Among those named are Gary Lyons, killed in action on July 2, 1967, in Vietnam, and Dennis Hartpence, killed in action on Apr. 19, 1968. A bell cast in Morrow County on August 27-28 2002 celebrates the Ohio Bicentennial and bears the words Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of Enterprise.
