Sang Run State Park includes the historic Friends Store, once the community’s general store, post office, and the landowners’ home, and now used as the park office and interpretive center. Across from the Sang Run Pavilion stands the newly renovated Sang Run Election House, the last remaining building of its kind in Maryland, first constructed in 1872 and last used for an election 100 years later before restoration was completed in 2020. The park’s trails include the 1.4-mile Bluebird Trail through agricultural fields, meadow edge, and wooded habitat near a private family cemetery, and the 0.1-mile Champion Tree Trail leading to Champion Black and White Oak trees and Black Locust. Picnic tables, benches, grassy areas, and the Sang Run Picnic Shelter are set near the Youghiogheny River, whose waters and tributaries, including Ginseng Run, support fishing, Brook Trout, Bald Eagles, and River Otters, while also providing white water recreation opportunities.
