Monrovia High School
Education
10
Monrovia's first high school began in the fall of 1883 and graduated its first two alumni, Mary Hubbard and Ina Phillips, in 1884. Its building had been constructed in 1881 on the site of Monrovia's first Common School, built in 1857, and remained in use until 1912. In 1912, Monroe Township authorized construction of a new school. That high school served students from both Monroe and Gregg townships until 1967, and the building was razed in 1978.
