Built in 1925 for John J. Swearingen, a Florida attorney, state senator, and Spanish-American War veteran, and his wife Mary Harding Rainey, this house later became the home of their daughter Katherine Swearingen Langford and her husband Richard H. Langford, a prominent citrus grower and cattleman. It was designed by noted architect Clayton Bonfoey, who created many historic landmarks in Tampa.
