1947 Ford Truck: Workhorse of Yesteryear
Industry
4
The 1947 Model Ford Truck belonged to a line of post-war trucks built from 1942 to 1947. These half-ton pickups had a stronger frame than their predecessors, along with a more modern suspension and driveline. As Ford deliberately distinguished its trucks from its cars, this model was seen as less stylish and more rugged. Among its best-known features was a distinctive waterfall-type grill, also called a jail bar grill. Its ruggedness and solid performance made it valuable in the wine industry in Napa and Sonoma counties, where property owners and vineyard managers used it for travel and for hauling heavy farm equipment, grapes, and other necessities.
