Tomlinson Run State Park in Hancock County, near the northern tip of West Virginia’s panhandle, spans 1,398 acres along a tributary of the Ohio River. The park combines wooded recreation areas, lakes and ponds for fishing and boating, and a wide range of family amenities including trails, courts, a playground, miniature golf, and a swimming pool with a water slide. It is especially notable in the state park system for its overnight lodging, offering campsites, cabins, a group camp, and West Virginia’s only state park yurts. Since the 1990s, a local foundation has helped fund improvements, and the park remains a popular outdoor destination.
