Stanza three of “The Charge of the Light Brigade,” written in 1854 by Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809-1892), evokes cannon firing to the right, left, and front as the six hundred rode boldly through shot and shell into the jaws of Death and the mouth of hell. It closes with the remembrance phrase “Lest We Forget” and records American Legion Post #961, dedicated 04 July 1921, and rededicated 16 June 2001.
