The remains of these buildings were in very poor condition when Carl M. Freeman Communities acquired the property. Unused for decades, most of the roofs had collapsed and the site had become a safety hazard. After thoroughly documenting the site and its associated structures, Carl M. Freeman Communities worked with the Delaware Department of Resources and Environmental Control and the Delaware State Historic Preservation Office to remove the damaged buildings. Today, the pump house remains as a symbol of the important role U.S. Army Site 11 played in defending the country during World War II.
