E. S. Swayze Drugstore
History
2
E. S. Swayze opened a drugstore on this site before 1870, and after the store burned in 1874, he built this building. From 1887 to 1890, members of the Free Methodist Church held services in the second-floor meeting hall. In 1903, Masonic Lodge #401 and the Order of the Eastern Star bought the building and owned it until 1970. The intact commercial building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
