Mingus Lookout Complex is a historic fire lookout station atop Mingus Mountain in Arizona’s Prescott National Forest, built to watch for wildfires across the surrounding forest. Centered on a steel lookout tower, the complex reflects the importance of such structures in the history of forest fire detection in the American West. The current tower, erected in 1935, replaced an earlier 41-foot wooden tower with a taller 60-foot Pacific Coast Steel structure. At the top stands a small 7-by-7-foot wooden cab with an overhanging front porch and gable roof. Its preservation significance was recognized when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 as part of a group of fire lookout towers.
