CAF Airbase Arizona at Falcon Field in Mesa opened to the public in 1978 as the 10th unit of the Commemorative Air Force and remains one of that organization’s largest branches. Rooted in the Commemorative Air Force’s 1961 founding and in local efforts to create an Arizona base, it focuses on preserving military aviation history through exhibits and active restoration. Its collection is strongest in World War II aircraft and artifacts, while also including earlier planes, jets, and helicopters. Notable displays, the Walk of Honor, and working hangars make it both a museum and a living center for maintaining historic warbirds.
